HULON BAHAR CONSULTING

Private research and consulting for urban development issues

Statement

Hulon Bahar Consulting, an upcoming and private research group, uses innovated, yet traditional methods for researching and
addressing issues within our cities. Today, more people live in urban centers or near urban centers than any other time in history.
The latest technology, sciences, research, policies, and art come from urban centers. However, urban development research has
not been able to keep up with all the newest issues affecting our communities and cities. Issues such as sustainability, water related
issues, environmental injustice, terrorism, and misunderstanding are some of the concerns that could ultimately compromise the
standard of living of our communities and cities. Hulon Bahar Consulting will apply hands on research to investigate these issues, by
engaging with direct contact with the people in the community, asking them their interests and what needs to be improved in their
communities, and this information will be relayed to the decision makers of that community to make the best choice on how to
address the issue. In other words, we are a “mobile” planning firm that hears out stakeholders’ issues and take them straight to city
hall. Our goal is to fix problems that concern everyday people who live, work, and play in our communities who may not have time
to actually go to a town hall meeting or voice concern on a specific problem that may ultimately affect them, but allow them to be
heard, through this consulting group.
Introduction
Hulon Bahar, Geography major at Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida, who will be receiving his certification in Urban and
Regional Planning December 2010, began his private consulting firm to research simple issues within his community. Starting mainly
from transportation and road analysis, he came to the conclusion that many people do not have time to complain about that pothole
in their neighborhood, or that warning sign that was placed in the wrong area, or the poor lightning on a dangerous street. He
understands that most of the time, people just work and go home, but they often do get irritated by problems in their community, but
often do not voice concern unless it becomes out of control or when it is nearly too late. He recently completed an investigation on a
street where warning signs were placed after the area which is was warning drivers about. Since then, he decided to create his
private firm for analyzing community issues, investigating, picking the best variable to fix the problem, and then informing decision
makers of the problem at hand,
What We Do
Hulon Bahar Consulting is a private research contractor for urban development issues where solutions are processed by
investigating the problem straight from the source. We use statistics, personal opinions, technical analysis, and other methods to
find variables to fix a problem within a certain community in a sustainable and economically feasible manner. We investigate and
find answers to problems as simple as potholes in a residential neighborhood, or large scale issues such as brownfields, and we
give our analysis to decision makers in that community. We are independent in nature and stay nonpartisan or bipartisan in our
investigations and analysis. Our special interest is ensuring the best quality of life for those who may not have time to voice their
grievances about problems in their community.
Who Do We Work For
Hulon Bahar Consulting works for itself. We do research and relay our findings and recommended solutions to decision makers who
may not have the allotted time to address them or may not even know of them. We are open for contracted work for private and
public firms, but as of now, we investigate community issues for our own research and anyone who requests our expertise may do
so free of charge.

Recent Projects
Recently, we investigated the misplacement of street warning signs near Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida.
Our next research project will be in Tallahassee, investigating a dangerous street with poor lightning where a student was kidnapped
at gunpoint while walking home from a friend’s house.
Tentative projects may include traffic lights that need synchronization in Tallahassee, unsafe pedestrian traffic on U.S. 90 near
Florida State University, and poor visibility on roads in and around the Tallahassee area.
