Fructose Intolerance Symptoms and Diet

Dietary Fructose Intolerance is the former name of Fructose malabsorption. This concept refers
to the digestive disorder. Deficient fructose carriers in the tiny enterocytes of intestine lessen the
absorption capabilities of fructose. It carries the result of excessive concentration of fructose in
the entire digestive track.
Therefore, Hereditary intolerancia fructosa, HFI is a genetic disorder of unusual case. Fructose
metabolism causes this genetic disorder, because of the deficiency of enzyme, aldolase B.
Aldolase B converts fructose-1-phosphate into glucose, and this conversion process happens
partially. It is a simple sugar, found in fruits and honey, and the chemical formula is C6H12O6.
Fructose malabsorption is seen around thirty to forty percent population in Central Europe. The
halves of the affected people are suffering from Irritable Bowel Syndrome comparably. The
partial portion of patients with both fructose mal absorption and lactose intolerance suffers from
Celiac disease.

Symptoms
1. Bloating
2. Diarrhea
3. Constipation
4. Flatulence
5. Due to muscle spasms, mild, chronic, acute and erratic stomach pain
6. Vomiting due to excessive consumption
7. Early signs of mental depression

However, the clinical symptoms can be bad abdominal pain, and hypoglycemia. Intake of
fructose or other sugar related ingredients metabolize through fructose-1-phosphate. Prolonged
fructose intake causes to hepatic, renal failure or death ultimately in infants. Patients can avoid
the symptoms to have a fructose free diet.
When hereditary fructose intolerance, becomes severe, the continuous liver disease cannot avoid,
even though you deduct fructose and sucrose from the diet.
In these instances, the symptoms include further.
1. An infant on food or formula at the beginning of symptoms
2. Poor baby feeding
3. Irritability
4. Neonatal jaundice for a long time
5. Convulsions
6. Excessive sleepiness
7. Fruits intolerance
8. Avoidance of fructose and sucrose containing foods and fruits
9. Better living after intake without fructose or sucrose
The initial symptoms of fructose intolerance are galactosemia, irritability, jaundice, vomiting,
convulsion, and extended liver and spleen. Liver disease occurs afterwards.

Diet
Foods can be avoided due to the possibilities of fructose malabsorption. These can be 1. More than 0.5 grams and in excess of glucose per 100 kg in Fructose and beverages.
2. Consumption of large quantities of fructose.
3. Foods with high fructose and glucose ratio.
4. Food rich in fructans along with fermentable oligo.
5. Sorbitol, high fructose corn syrup, HFCS or honey.

High glucose foods with ingested content and food with excess fructose perhaps can help absorb
excessive fructose gradually.
Dietary fructose intolerance or management of fructose malabsorption includes foods with
excessive fructose than glucose, considering as unfavorable food for individuals.
The favorable foods can be stone fruit, berry fruit, citrus fruit (lemon, orange etc.) and other
fruits including ripe banana, jackfruit, kiwi fruit, passion fruit, pineapple, rhubarb, and tamarillo.
