Position: Coordinator, Volunteers - 2017 North American Indigenous Games (NAIG)



Overview and Job Summary:
The Coordinator, Volunteers will be responsible for all Volunteer Committee Operations. In this
role you will support the NAIG event staff in other areas such as logistics, event execution,
reporting and accounting.

Primary Responsibilities:



Develop a volunteer recruitment strategy, timeline and process for the 2017 NAIG.
Plan and execute special volunteer engagement events.
Manage background check process for necessary volunteers.
Work in consultation with the various Host Organizing Committees (Sport Organizing
Committee, Culture, Disciplinary, Legacy, Finance, Executive) and functional areas to
ensure that all volunteer requirements are met.
Manage the online volunteer registration and scheduling tool.
Develop volunteer training presentations and manuals where required and assist other
functional areas in the development of training manuals and other volunteer training
tools.
Responsible for all scheduling of volunteers for the 2017 NAIG.
General administrative duties and other duties, as assigned.


General Responsibilities:

Deliver a first class event and ensure all stakeholders have the best experience.
Daily contribution to different tasks assigned by the General Manager and support to
other staff members.
Maintain up-to-date plan of actions and follow-ups.
Support Event Managers with HOC requirements as needed.

Qualifications:
Experience working Volunteers or in Volunteer Management is required.
Knowledge and experience in special events or championships is essential.
A demonstrated commitment to high professional ethical standards and a diverse
workplace.
Excels at operating in a fast pace, community environment.
Service-oriented, positive and resourceful personality.

Presents a highly professional image at all times.


Proficiency in both official languages (English and French) is considered an asset.
Background and knowledge of Indigenous cultures will be given preference.

Salary and Working Environment:


This is a Full-Time, contract position beginning immediately and ending August 31st,
2017, with the possibility of an extension after the Games, if necessary.
Flexibility in hours, as some evenings and weekends are required.
Own transportation required, including a valid G license.
Criminal record check must be provided (vulnerable sector).
Office will be in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).
Salary will be commensurate with experience. $40,000-50,000 plus benefits.
