Authority

DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration) agent comes to farmer to find illegal crops.
** Man has always wanted to be boss, because we were created to be authorities.
** Sin is our taught evil nature that wants to disobey authority.
Cluster experience pastors organized, everyone wants to lead (AD, Baptist, Reformed,
Foursquare, Philadelphia). Hard to organize.
Authority types:
Formal / por derecho / delegada more related to power enforcement.
Moral / por aceptacin / adquirida gained by experience and righteousness (rectitud).
There is no absolute moral authority by man, only Jesus.
Where do we find our authorities:

1. Despotism, a person can be so authoritarian, he seeks his own benefit (material,
popularity). Tyranny, Cruelty.
a. Example: Hitler
2. Anarchy, no one knows who authority is, and there is no order. Chaos, Pandemonium.
a. Example: Honduran government?

1. Anger this can lead to many consequences, since ultimately obeying, with bad attitude,
until rebellion
a. Acts 7:54 Oyendo estas cosas, se enfurecan en sus corazones, y crujan los dientes

b. Context since acts 6, authority in the Bible, people upset they had no argument
against him,
2. Indifference - doing what we want, not necessarily opposed to authority
a. Gen 19:14 Entonces sali Lot y habl a sus yernos, los que haban de tomar sus

3. Selective obedience I choose exactly what I want to obey. Not everything, just what is
convenient to me.
a. 1 Samuel 15:3, 7, 7-9, 12-14 chose not to destroy everything and kept a few
things.
b. Also considered by God as TOTAL DISOBEDIENCE
i. Choose which commandments to obey, which days to attend church,
which people to help, which leader to obey, which bible Scriptures to
read, which sins to leave, which not
1. Think of having a job, and choosing which tasks to fulfill, which not.
c. Some people choose serving, giving time, helping others, but leave out offerings,
tithe, fornication, parties, music, pornography, vanity, greed, etc.

2. ENDING LINE Submission is absolute, internal. Obedience is relative and external.
Submission is an attitude, obedience is a behavior. You can obey without submitting, but
cant submit without obeying.
