PURPOSE

The purpose of this document is to provide guidance on use of low viscosity high
strength epoxy resin to repair cracks in concrete of Precast or In-situ slabs of by
grouting.
2.0

SCOPE

This work will consist of visual inspection to ascertain the grading of Concrete
Quality. As per crack surface will be sealed by pouring mixed Sikadur-52 (low
viscosity high strength epoxy resin).
3.0

Material

Low Viscous, High Strength Epoxy Resin such as SIKADUR-52 of SIKA India Ltd, or
equivalent material shall be used for filling the crack.

PROCEDURE
5.1 Inspection of crack

A visual inspection on crack surface shall be done.

5.2 Preparation of surface
After identification of crack on a slab, V-notch of width and depth shall be made
along entire length of the crack. Then the area shall be made free from standing
water, oil, grease, surface contaminants, Dirty, dust and other foreign materials by
using blower.
5.3 Preparation of epoxy grout
Entire hardener and base resin contents shall be mixed using hand or mechanical
tools until the liquid becomes clear without any streaky appearance.

5.4 Application of grout

Mixed grout is then poured with the help of pressure grout pump through nozzles or
other means into the cracks from one end to other end and topped up as necessary
until the crack is completely filled.
6.0 GENERAL HEALTH AND SAFETY
All personnel shall follow Health and Safety document as would be issued from time to
time. It will be ensured that no unauthorized person should enter in the working area.
All persons shall use appropriate personnel protective equipments as required.
