the so-called land of the free, America, has an area where poverty is wide spread. One of the poorest zip codes in the country, Memphis, Tennessee is where Michael Oher, the main character in the movie, The Blind side came from. Movies portray stories that would enlighten us, make us relate, analyze, give lessons and even make us realize something is worth attention. The Blind Side is a movie based on the true story of Michael Oher, a less fortunate African-American teenager, who was adopted by a rich, white family, the Touhys family, who became a famous NFL player. This movie made me realize how important perseverance, dedication, motivation and positive outlook of things are. To many, Michael Oher (Big Mike or Mike) was considered hopeless. He has no father and her mother was a drug addict, he has a traumatic past filled of abuse and addiction. He was considered a runner, being pushed from foster home to foster home. He has a low capacity of learning and school was never a good place for him. But when he became part of the Touhys family, many has changed. The love and support of Sean and Leigh Anne, his foster parents and the bond he had with their two children, S.J. and Collins, made him realize he is worth of something. Incentive to succeed grew in him and his family became his inspiration. The odds favoured his side when they have discovered his incredible ability of playing football, but another impediment join in, his bad grades became a hindrance in his way of playing football. But because of dedication, hardwork and with the help of others and motivation from his family he was successful to overcome these obstacles. Despite of the past he had, he face the present with a positive outlook. His determination in life is what one must follow. He utilize the opportunity he got and became successful both academically, sports and social life. His, determination thought me that in life we should never loss hope. Theres a qoutation from Kierkeigaard; Life can be understood backwards, but it must be live forwards. Like Mike, we should not dwell on the past, we should aim for what is right ahead of us, be determined on achieving your goals so that someday we could also become successful like him in our own field of choice.
