MESSAGE
Allow me to express my heartfelt congratulations to the organizers of the Department of
Energy (DOE) Euro 4 Fuel Economy Run 2016, especially to our Energy Utilization
Management Bureau and partner company, Petron Corporation, for productively staging
this worthwhile milestone event towards energy efficiency and environmental protection.
The DOE also takes pride in collaborating with car manufacturers, importers, and dealers
as their active participation reinforces the promotion of fuel economy in vehicles. This is
especially remarkable with the governments mandatory implementation of the Euro 4
Fuel standard around the country beginning this year.
As an important consideration in every fuel economy run, the DOE is keen about vehicle
maintenance and driving proficiencies in acquiring necessary data to determine fuel
consumption efficiency, which is a vital information to stimulate intellectual discussions
and smart consumption within the road transportation sector. The DOE also took note of
the wide reach of this activity to spread awareness on its noble energy efficiency
objective. It is in this sense that we sincerely appreciate the unrelenting support of the
energy, environment and transportation stakeholders toward the governments vision for
cleaner and responsible transport sector.
The DOE hopes to expand its cooperation with other companies to provide a more
environment-friendly and more sustainable fuel supply to the Filipinos. Let us remain
cognizant of the judicious utilization of our energy resources as this may impact the
environment when abused. Let us also continue to empower the consumers to instill
efficiency when buying and using energy-consuming products (i.e., fuels & vehicles) to
further reduce the carbon footprint of the country.
On behalf of the DOE family, we thank you for being staunch advocates of energy
efficiency and conservation, and cleaner and sustainable energy. Rest assured of the
DOEs continued dynamism in encouraging industries towards underlining these
advocacies.
Thank you and more power!
ZENAIDA Y. MONSADA
Secretary
The global automotive industry now operates in a borderless landscape where goods
and services are Made in the World. The Philippine automotive industry must remain
in-sync with this trend and ensure that it is aligned with international standards.
The Association of Vehicle Importers and Distributors (AVID) congratulates the
Department of Energy (DOE) for the successful Fuel Economy Run 2016. The huge
turnout of participants signifies the strong support that automotive companies have for
environmental sustainability and consumer empowerment.
We strongly support DOEs work to steer the Philippine automotive industry towards
greener and more consumer-centric business practices that are at par with global
standards and reaffirm our commitment to be a strategic partner in building an
industry that is globally competitive, consumer-driven, and mindful of the environment.
