NEW POLL: DON YOUNGS NUMBERS SINK

ALASKA CONGRESSMAN VULNERABLE AGAINST
LINDBECK IN RE-ELECTION FIGHT
48% of Alaska voters have unfavorable opinion of Young,
61% say he is doing a poor or just fair job as Congressman
ANCHORAGE WEDNESDAY, JULY 6 An internal poll commissioned last week by the Lindbeck
campaign and the Alaska Democratic Party found that 48% of Alaska voters hold an unfavorable opinion
of Congressman Don Young while just 39% have a favorable opinion of the Republican incumbent.
61% of voters said that Young is doing a poor or just fair job as Congressman.
Among the key swing group of independent voters, just 37% view Young favorably, while 50% view him
unfavorably. Thirty-four percent of independents say he is doing a poor job as Congressman, while
32% say his performance is just fair.
As Steve Lindbeck, former General Manager of Alaska Public Media, gears up to challenge Young, the
numbers show that the 43-year congressman is uniquely vulnerable in November.
Lindbeck Campaign Manager Evan Brown released the following statement:
This poll reflects what is increasingly clear after 43 years, Alaskans are saying its time to move on
from Don Young. As Alaskas economy faces unprecedented challenges, it's clear Alaska voters are
looking for a new direction and a congressman who always puts Alaska first. Steve Lindbeck is a proven
leader with a long record of getting things done for Alaska. He's running an aggressive campaign built on
a vision for an Alaskan economy that is diversified and strong, and he's getting a great response across the
state."
The poll was conducted from June 29 - June 30, and sampled 1,190 Alaska voters. The MoE is +/- 2.8%.
