CULTURAL AUTOBIOGRAPHY

Introduction
The cultural of my family is very common, but it has bit of pieces of uniqueness in it, as
well. In my family, it is common to have a large family. Both of my parents have six brothers and
one sister. They have nine children; Im the ninth child.
Major/Historical Facts or Events #1
My grandparents on both sides was born and raised in small communities, in the Western
States in the United States. My father was born in a small town called Castle Gate. My mother
was born in even smaller town called Altoona, which is and still located about two miles south of
the Ule Indian Reservation. Although, both of my parents were born in the United States and
their native language is English, each of them have an ancestry of different varieties of culture.
My mother has an ancestry of French, English, and some American Indian. My father has an
ancestry of German, English, and Mexican.
Major/Historical Facts or Events #2
My parents met in a restrained located within military installation. My father, who was
eighteen years old at the time, worked for whom would be my grandfather, as a kitchen worker.
My mother was about fifteen years old. My mother, at age fifteen, went with her mother during
the summer, at times, for a diversion. As time went on, my father went to Texas, serve as a
missionary for two years. He and my mother write letters to each other, and no, my father didnt
receive a Dear John Letter, a letter saying, Im engage with someone else and Im breaking up
with you. In other words, it is a break-up letter, most missionaries get while theyre on their

mission, from their girlfriend. After my father came back from his mission in Texas, he and my
mother started dating more often. Before my father asked my mother to marry him; his mother
told him he could not get married until he had a steady job, so he can support my mother and
himself. He decided to join the military, for a short term.
While he was doing his service overseas, my mother was being visited by another
gentlemen, who joined the military, as well. My father read a letter from my mother; she talked
about her and this gentleman was writing letters to each other; my father was worried for he was
going to miss his chance to marry my mother. As soon my father came home, he went to my
mothers home and he propose to her. After she said, yes, they went to a jewelry store and my
mother picked her own wedding ring. They got married and started their family. They moved
several times, because of my fathers work.

Major/Historical Events and Facts #3

I grew up in a home with a large yard, (one acre of land), and a fairly large house (it had
five bedrooms, 1 bathrooms, medium-size kitchen, large living room, and large family room.
We also, had an old chicken coop, (we didnt raise chickens), and a large garage. This home has
many memories of fun family activities and events. In my I Am From Poem, I had mention a

few things, I had done where I had grew up and what happened when I moved away. I will
mention other activates, I did with my family, at home. Many activities, I did with my siblings,
when I was younger, usually most people would need to go to a park, in order to play these
activities. We played capture the flag, volleyball, (we use the clothesline as a net), basketball
games like horse and around-the-world, (the basketball hoop is not portable and there is not a
blacktop where the hoop is), kickball, spud, soccer, dodgeball trampoline-style, dead man ( it is
similar to blind mans bluff), different styles of tag such as, freeze tag, tag in the dark and team
tag, hide-n-seek in the dark, water balloon fights, and corn hole.

Major/Historical Facts and Events #4

The values are: earn ones way in life, be fair and honest in ones dealings. Being kind to
others and giving service for those in need. Be wary of those who are too friendly and are
strangers at the same time.
Major/Historical Facts and Events #5
My family celebrates birthday by, letting the birthday boy or birthday girl picks his or her
favorite food for dinner, and favorite cake. As the years went by, we still follow the tradition the

birthday boy or girl picks their food for dinner, but as for the cake; it will either be a cheesecake
or an ice cream cake. Like most American families, my family celebrates Christmas, with

presents, a Christmas tree, Santa Claus, etc. As my siblings and myself starting to get older, we
started to want less presents. In fact, we felt like, we need to give more presents to other families,
who are in need.
We started singing Christmas Carol songs to the elderly in the retirement homes. We sing
songs like Jingle Bells, Silent Night, We Wish You a Merry Christmas, and Joy to the
World.

Major/Historical Facts and Events #6

Every family gathering, we not only enjoyed each others company, but we enjoyed the
delicious food, my mother make for every family dinner. Mother, usually, made dinner, while my
father worked long hours away from home, and my siblings and I were still young kids. Some of
the famous food, my mother made are: Pig in Blankets, (it is a sausage link with a piece of
cheese, wrap in a homemade biscuit), Chili, Meat Lovers lasagna, Biscuit n Gravy, and
Homemade Bread.
During the holidays, like Christmas and New Years, my mother would make many treats
such as: buckeyes, Russian teacakes, fudge, sugar cookies, almond brittle, coconut date balls, nobake cookies, and coconut maroons.

CULTURAL AUTOBIOGRAPHY

Summary
My parents, who were born and raised on the west side of the United States, decided to move to
the Midwest and raise their own family. I was raised not on a farm, but a large piece of land,
where my siblings and I played all variety of games. We spend time during big holidays like
Halloween, Christmas and Easter. We hold important values like being fair and honest.
