Home Care Worker

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB

To undertake individual responsibility for the personal & practical caring

needs of service users in their own homes.
To provide general support to service users & their relatives as part of a
Caring Team.
To liaise on behalf of service users with other services/agencies as & when
appropriate & necessary.

DUTIES:
1.

Assist service users with personal tasks, such as washing, dressing, toileting
& feeding.

2.

Collect pensions & pay bills where appropriate (& as identified in Care Plans).

3.

Enable service users to meet social & emotional needs by talking with service
users & helping them to maintain close contact with family, friends & the
community.

4.

Undertake household tasks such as housework, meal preparation, laundry &

shopping.

5.

Help to create a homely & supportive atmosphere where service users can
achieve maximum independence safely.

6.

Help service users to manage their day to day finances (see Care Plan for
instructions).

7.

Be aware of cultural & religious needs of all service users & facilitate &
supporting them in meeting these needs.

8.

Be aware of the needs of service users with mental health problems, physical
disabilities & learning difficulties & offer appropriate support

9.

Support family members/relatives to enable them to continue in their caring

role

10.

Report any significant changes or deterioration in service users health &

welfare immediately to Team Leaders

11.

Work closely with other colleagues other agencies in achieving the aims &
objectives of individual care packages for service users.

12.

Attend meetings & case conferences as & when required and on advised by
Team Leaders & Managers

13.

Maintain service users & other records as required

14.

Receive supervision from Team Leaders

15.

Attend training as instructed

16.

Undertake other duties as required within the scope of the post
