Academic Integrity Assignment

After viewing the Academic Integrity Policy and the Common


Craft: Plagiarism Video, please respond to the following
questions:

1. Plagiarism is commonly referred to as
the passing off another persons work as ones own,
whether deliberate or accidental.

2. How will student work be checked for plagiarism? (List at


least two ways)
The work of the students will all be analyzed to see if any of
the work matches to be the exact same as each other. The
second way the student work will be checked is with the
software Turnitin.

3. Sanctions for plagiarism include (list at least two possible


consequences):
The student will receive zero on the assignment or get an
expulsion from
the course.

4. What is the difference between accidental plagiarism and


deliberate plagiarism?
Deliberate plagiarism is someone trying to copy or take the
work and ideas of someone else and claim it to be their own.

Accidental plagiarism is where someone does not cite their


work properly.
5. How can you avoid plagiarism, while still integrating support
(ideas and quotes) in your own work?
To avoid plagiarism you can cite your work correctly if it is
taken from Internet or from someone elses work.
6. Other than the written work, what other items can be
plagiarized? Can you still use these items? How?
Other things such as songs, books, magazines, things off
the internet can also be plagiarized. Yes, you can still use
these items by citing them properly and by giving the source
the credit.
7. Do some internet research and find at least one website (not
listed in the Academic Integrity Policy or on the Common
Craft Video) that helped you understand how to avoid
plagiarism.
