deersbodyjumpedanditdroppedlikeafly.Mybrothercalledmeandsaiddidyoushotone.

truckwheredadwaswaitingandwenthome.Wehungthedeerbythehindlegsandcutitopen

Footballisoneofthemostimportantthingsinmylife.Ibeganplayingfootballataveryyoungage.Football
hasshapedmylifeinwaysindescribable.OneofthereasonsI'mincollege,apartfromacademics,is
becauseofmyabilitytoplayfootball.OneplacethatIreallygottoexhibitmyathleticabilitieswasat
SouthlakeChristianAcademy,myoldhighschool.IbeganplayingfootballatSouthlakemyfreshmanyear.
OneofthemostexcitingpartsaboutplayingfootballatSouthlakewasthatIstartedoutonthevarsityteam.
Myfreshmanyear,myteamwenttothestatechampionship.Unfortunately,thisgamewasnotavictoryfor
us.Mysophomoreandjunioryearhowever,endedsuccessfully.Myteamwontwostatechampionships
consecutively.Mysophomoreyear,thefinalgamewasextremelychallenging.Thescorewas0to0fora
majorityofthegame.Eventually,Iscoredatouchdownandthekickerkickedfortheextrapoint.Thefinal
scorewas7to0withSouthlakeChristianAcademyholdingthetitleof"StateChampions."Myjunioryear,
thechampionshipgamewasevenmoreexacting.Wewereplayingagainstaschoolrenownedforexcelling
infootball.Weweremetattheopposingschool'shomefieldwithfans,posters,andevenedibletaunts.This
schoolwascertainthattheyweregoingtobeatus.Thegameendedupgoingintoovertime.Ialsoscored
thewinningtouchdownduringthisgame.DuringmytimeatSouthlake,Irushedforover5000yards.Gained
over40divisiononoffersfromalabamatoohiostateandrankedthetop100playersinthecountryby
ESPN,Rivals,andetc.HighschoolfootballisdefinitelysomethingthatmademewhoIamtoday.Atrue
launchingpadformeandmylife.

September12010,wasaterrifyingdayinmylifeitwasthedayihadopenheartsurgery.
Rewindingiwasbornwithabirthdefectthataffectedmyheartitcausedmyrightcoronary
arterywentinafunkingway.Therightcoronaryarterysuppliesbloodflowtotherightsideofthe
heart.Unlikeeveryoneelsemineinsteadofbranchingoutitbrancheddownbehindmyheart
betweenit.Theproblemwaswhereitwaslodged.Whenapersonrunstheheartexpands
allowingformorebloodtocomefromandtotheheart.Thedoctorswasscaredthatitwasgoing
tocrushthearterycausinginstantdeath.Withmeplayingfootballitcausedtrouble.Iwentinto
surgeryterrifiedfromhollywoodmoviesofpeopledyingonoperationtablesandjustbeingcut
open.Iwasatwelveyearoldboyterrifiedformylifebecausetheweekofmysurgerytwoboys
withthesameconditionasmediedinthemiddleofagame!Thesurgerywentsmoothlywithno
complication,iopenedmyeyestomymiddleschoolcoachsmilinginmyface.Thisexperience

hastaughtmesomuchmainlytovaluelifewedonotknowhowlongwemighthaveleft,liveto
thefullestbecauseagainanydaycouldbethelast,andholdyourlovedonesclosebecause
