SOL Course:
There will be a SOL assessment at the end of the second semester course. If the student does
not pass the assessment the student will be required to take the final exam. If the student
does pass the assessment they will be exempt from the second semester final exam.

Materials:
In order to be successful in any course, you need to be prepared. For this class you will need to
bring, a pencils and pens. 3-ring binder, a composition book, a pack of colored pencils, a box of
tissues, had sanitizer or Clorox wipes, straight edge, a compass (Fiskars metal for 2$) and a
positive attitude. Come Prepared!!

Attendance:
There is a new policy. The new Student in Good Standing will be reviewed in class and in grade
meetings and posted on the website.

Grading Policy:

Nine weeks/Quarter grades:

1. Tests (There will be an assessment every Friday)....40%
2. Quizzes (You may have a quiz on Tuesday Friday)......25%
3. Cumulative Reviews........15%
4. Math Journal/Notebook checks..10%
5. Homework Checks (Monday through Thurs.)....10%
Semester grades are separate in this course. They will not be averaged together.

First Semester Grades:

First nine weeks...40%

Second nine weeks..40%
Mid-term..10%
Final.... 10%

Second Semester Grades:

Third nine weeks...40%
Fourth nine weeks..40%

Classroom Cell phone Policies:

There will be no cell phones or i-pods used in class this year without prior notice. Notice will be
given the day before use with a reminder on the board. Cell phones should not be out or in
pocket or lap. These items cause great distractions, compromise testing situations, and personal
space of other students. There will be no warning, cell phones will be removed upon site and
taken to the office where the student may pick them up at the end of the day. Second offence
will result in a conference request and a detention. The third offense will be referred to the
office.

Website and Google Classroom:

Notes, assignments, and class announcements will be posted on my website. If a student is
absent or behind the information will be on the website, as well as links to helpful sites for
practice. The website should be finished after the second full week of school. I appreciate
your patience! Information will likewise be posted on google classroom and the students will
have the access code.

Make Up Work:
1. Students are given the number of days absent plus two days to turn in assignments
when they are absent. It is the responsibility of the student to find out their
assignment.
2. The test make up policy is the same as the homework policy.
3. Absolutely no late work will be accepted.
4. Students may appeal any decisions but the teacher will have the final decision.
5. Long-term absences due to illness or other unforeseen circumstances will be dealt
with on an individual bases.

THERE IS AN SOL FOR THIS CLASS IN MAY. TO BE EXEMPT FROM THE

FINAL EXAM SECOND SEMESTER YOU MUST PASS YOUR SOL.
