He felt nothing. It was not the absence of feeling, there was simply nothing to feel.
Not yet in any case.
Slowly, agonizingly slowly, he regained consciousness. It happened piece by piece.
First came his name. He struggled to remember it. Khorne? No, not at all. That
name belonged to another being.
Apollion, yes that was it.
Next was the obvious question, where? Where was not obvious, his world was black
and his mind could not yet figure out that question. Immediately after came the
pain. His waist, the back of his knee, his hand also, and then his shoulder. He knew
without thinking that they were all puncture wounds. He knew instantly that the
visible damage would be severe, though it seemed there would be no lasting effect.
Something immediately awoke within, from another part of his mind. His world
turned red before he even knew why. Finally, after what seemed like an eternity
since waking, he remembered why he had reason to awake. He had fallen, defeated
and that fact alone was enough to feel the pull towards that sweet abyss of
thoughtless murder. His body and mind both screamed for blood to flow. With
enourmous effort he forced his mind to work, to remember. Before the blood could
flow he needed to know who, and he needed to know how.
With a sharp pang of realization the image of an immense block of plates and limbs
appeared in his mind and crashed across his psyche like a tsunami wave.
TYRANIDS. It was they who tried to kill him, they who had slaughtered his warband.
Stims flooded his system and his fists instinctively clenched around weapons that
werent there. He surged upwards and to his feet immediately looking for
something to killbut there was nothing. He was surrounded only by dead bodies.
His rage ebbed slightly, his frustration grew accordingly. His senses returned to him
and he surveyed the battlefield more carefully. There, in the distance, he saw a
massive body fall to the earth, dozens of craters in its sides and 2 massive ones in
its chest. Once the body fell he saw the terminators that had felled it.
Do not think that you will leave me here. The terminators turned suddenly at the
sound of his voice. A pair seemed relieved, the rest seemed slightly aggravated at
his survival.

You alone among my warriors have survived. This host has failed me, and on your
shoulders I shall start again. These spawn think they have won this planet, I will
show them that they are wrong.
