Create a disclaimer relative to the acceptance of the facility clearly identifying the
items that are not acceptable or does not have proper result documentation
forwarded by the party turning over the site. Disclaimer: All items not listed will
not be accepted without proper documents and test results and shall not be held
liable. This is the minimum requirement and in the event that the building
guidelines is strictly enforced this shall be govern.

Make a standard turnover acceptance document/form for all trades, that will
include the following:
Kick-off and turn-over of documents (Internal)
External Kick-off meeting
Mobilization
Safety Orientation
Inspection of deliveries in accordance to specifications (done each time there
are deliveries from sub-con)
General Implementation of works
Site Survey

Prior to installing any fire detection system, the contractor shall


survey the site to determine job conditions will not impose any
obstructions that would interfere with the safe and satisfactory
placement of the system. The arrangements to remove any
obstructions with the Project Manager need to be determined at
that time.

Roughing-In piping Works

All piping installations shall run parallel/perpendicular to


building grid lines. No diagonal runs shall be allowed and all
bends and offsets shall be avoided as much as possible.

Pipe supports shall have a minimum of 1.5 meter between


supports (GI wires and similar to this shall not accepted)

No conduits shall be used in any system smaller than 20mm


diameter electric trade size, nor shall have more than (4) 90
degree bends in any one run and where necessary, pull boxes
shall be provided as directed.

Clamps shall be attached to the masonry walls by means of


expansion shield or masonry screw. Approved beam clamps or
equivalent should be used to attach conduits to exposed steel
works.

For cutting pipes, pipe cutter or hacksaw can be used to cut


pipes to desired lengths. Ensure that cuts are made
perpendicular to the pipe length, keeping the cuts square.
Debris and shavings from cuts must be removed in order to
keep sampling ports free of obstruction.

Wiring / Cabling Works


Proper splicing of wires
Splicing of wires shall be done only on pull boxes
Proper insulation of electrical tapes and rubber tape on
required and exposed feeder termination/splicing.
As per design wire size should be installed.
Applicable terminal lugs and eye lugs should be mounted well &
tightened to eliminate loose contact.
Installation of Smoke detector, FACP and Annunciator

Shall be implemented as per design instruction, for construction


plans and noted in general notes.

For peaked or sloped ceilings, install the alarm within 3 feet of


the peak but not within the apex of the peak.

Wall mounted alarms should not be placed more than 12 inches


from the ceiling

Smoke detectors should be installed at least 10 feet from any


cooking appliances.

Smooth ceiling spacing shall not exceed 30 feet (9 m).

Fire-Alarm Control Unit: Surface mounted, with tops of cabinets


not more than 72 inches (1830 mm) above the finished floor.

Annunciator: Install with top of panel not more than 72 inches


(1830 mm) above the finished floor.

Functionality Test

Conventional Alarm System


Remove cover of each smoke detector and proceed to
disconnect one wire from the device
The fire alarm panel should annunciate a trouble
condition on the signal circuit
If the annunciator confirms the signal, the device can be
reconnected and remounted to the wall or ceiling.
Repeat the process to each conventional device.

Interfacing

Upon completion of the installation, the system shall be


subjected to complete functional and operational test in
place of each detector.

Upon actuation of any smoke detectors an audible alarm


shall sound the FACP continuously; a tone generated
alarm with pre-recorded message shall sound at the floor
