Conferences

Our daily news is soaked with images, stories, speeches, and

rhetoric about race and gender in America. This is a
monumental opportunity to utilize current events and issues
in the classroom to explore social justice and create a
community based on love, understanding, and empathy. Our entire school year will be
devoted toward this endeavor in the hope that students will develop a strong sense of
themselves, an appreciation for others, an understanding of injustice in our world and
those that have advocated for those wrongly treated, and a call to action. The year has
been broken down into 3 larger projects, each with various components. This first project
will begin our 2016-17 school year and culminate with two exhibitions: once during
Student Led Conferences on October 10-13th and then again at the all school exhibition
on November 15th. Students will explore their own identity while learning to appreciate
the diversity of others.

We want to create a community of caring students that can empathize with each other.
They know who they are as learners, friends, peers, citizens, etc. Students will gain a
deeper understanding and respect for their peers and share their experiences. Students
will express pride, confidence and healthy self-esteem without denying the value and dignity of other people. Students
will express comfort with people who are both similar to and different from them and engage respectfully with all people.
Students will respond to diversity by building empathy, respect, understanding and connection.

Nuestra noticias diarias contienen una variedad de imgenes, historias, y discursos sobre la raza y el gnero en Amrica.
Esta es una oportunidad monumental para utilizar eventos y temas de actualidad en el aula para explorar la justicia social y
crear una comunidad basada en el amor, la comprensin y la empata. Nuestro ao escolar entera estar dedicada a este
esfuerzo con la esperanza de que los estudiantes desarrollarn un fuerte sentido de s mismos, una apreciacin de los dems,
una comprensin de la injusticia en nuestro mundo y los que han abogado por los tratados injustamente, y una llamada a la
accin. El ao ha sido dividida en 3 proyectos grandes, cada uno con diferentes componentes. El primer proyecto comenzar
nuestra 2016-17 ao escolar y culminar con dos exposiciones: la primera ser durante las Conferencias dirigidas Estudiantes
los das 10-13 Octubre y luego de nuevo durante la exposicin el 15 de Noviembre. Los estudiantes explorarn su propia
identidad mientras que aprendan a apreciar la diversidad de los dems.
Queremos crear una comunidad en la cual los estudiantes puedan empatizar con los dems. Los estudiantes obtendrn un
conocimiento ms profundo al igual el respeto de sus pares y compartirn sus experiencias. Los estudiantes expresar orgullo,
confianza y autoestima saludable sin negar el valor y la dignidad de otros. Los estudiantes expresarn conformidad con las
personas que son a la vez son similar y diferente de ellos y se involucran con respeto a todas las personas. Los estudiantes
respondern a la diversidad a travs de la construccin de la empata, respeto, comprensin y la conexin.
