The Department of Science and Humanities, Sree Sakthi Engineering College is

multidisciplinary in its orientation. At present the Department has expertise in four disciplines
namely Physical science, Chemistry, Mathematics and English. It is believed that Engineering
education can be enhanced only with the thorough understanding of science. Hence a complete
Engineering education must include the basics of Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English
where the students can easily unite the scientific principles with Engineering.
The Department imparts the fundamental knowledge of the students in all facets of Science and
Humanities needed to acquire better expertise in all disciplines of Engineering and bridges the
gap between the school and collegiate education. The Department has introduced innovative
teaching methodologies and evaluation strategies which chisel the professional etiquette of the
students. The motive of the department is to inculcate the importance of Basic sciences and
develop a natural flair for Engineering and Technology which in turn shall mould the students
into a competent professional.

Core courses offered in the S&H Department


1. Technical English (I&II semesters)
2. Engineering Mathematics (I, II and advanced semesters)
3. Engineering Physics (I&II semesters)
4. Engineering Chemistry (I&II semesters)
In addition to these courses, students must undergo basic courses in Mechanical Engineering,
Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Programming etc during their first year
(Semester I and II).
