Having already achieved near 100% usage of electronic media for preparation of all project documents (drawings, requisitions etc.) the next step is to introduce document exchange through LAN. Till a full-edged data centric (Elecironic Data Management) system is implemented in EIL. the LAN system can be utilized for providing engineering inputs trom one ‘epartment to another as well as a substitute for the conventional drawing control system While the usage of LAN would facilitate document exchange. a disciplined approach by allisa presequisite for the success ofthe proposed Electronic Document Exchange (EDEX) system. This procedure is primarily based on the current work methodology wi which, henceforth, shall be implemented through LAN. engineering SCOPE This procedure for EDEX is applicable for ll project documents i.. design basis, drawings, data sheets, material/purchase requisitions and related documents etc The procedure detines the directory structure for a given project along with the methodology for document submission and retrieval. The system for naming electronic files and access rights for all the interacting groups has also been included. REFERENCES Presently, the following guides and procedures are in use for document exchange Even though these documents are not strictly applicable for the transfer/maintenance Of roject documents in electronic media, the basic intent with respect to responsibilities and methodology shall still be applicable for EDEX. The governing values of w,:/m or wg!im are plotted in solid lines while the results obtained from the basic patterns without considering the corner effect are plotted in dotted lines. Case I (i, =iy i,=1) is a slab with equal positive resisting moments and equal negative resisting moments in x and y directions but the negative resisting moments are one - half of the positive resisting moments. This case fails in PATTERN D when a<0.5b, in PATTERN E when 0.Sd0.2b and PATTERN C changes to PATTERN F (corner patern of A) when b>0.2a, for the intended use. EIL-1641-1263 Revision 1. 44 2103297. Case IM (i, ip=2) is a stab with positive and negative resisting moments about the x axis equal and those about the y-axis equal but the former is twice of the latter. Without considering the ‘comer patterns, case Il fails in PATTERN D when a<0.3b, in PATTERN B when 0.3b0. 1b and PATTERN C changes to PATTERN F when b>0.2a g 3 é : iz ? é 2 ‘The following points should be noted: (©) Referring to fig.2, in the cases investigated, for PATTERN F at failure, value of e varies from 0.1 to 0.3, q from 0.3 to 0.5, and (q+1) from 0.8 to 1.0. For PATTERN G at failure, 4 varies from 0.1 10 0.3, ¢ from 0.3 t0 0.5 and (e+f) from 0.8 t0 1.0. 2 = (@) Corner patterns give values about 10 percent lower than the corresponding basic patterns § . i 8 (©) _ PATTERN E governs only when negative resisting moment is less than the positive resisting moment in the same direction. i F E 3 | E (@) The cases of a/b=0 and b/a =o are limiting cases. When a/b =0 the side b is very long compared to a and the slab acts as a centilever. Therefore im = wa'/2 or watim = 2, which is equal to 1 for case'l and 2 for cases. If & III.
