Oedipus Rex Essay.
Oedipus, who is the King of Thebes, didnt know that he killing his own
father and marry his mother. Oedipuss inability throughout the pla leads him
to react in an arrogant manner to Creon, Teiresias, the Chorus, and Jocasta.
In each instance, he refuses to see what the truth is and how he can help
himself by using his free will to change his circumstances.
Oedipus was a good King but he has a very hot temper and
think that he is alway right. How shamelessly you taunt me. Do you
think you will escape? Oedipus didnt know that he is murder the
former King, making him think that everyone are lying to him. He
thought that they must be kidding and playing on him, because
they want to stay unpunished. Do you think you can talk like this
and live to laugh at it hereafter? You are blind in mind and ear as
well as in your eyes. Oedipus think that everyone wanted to hide
the truth from him so he cant find the murder. He express his
feeling in anger by defame other people. By refuses to see the truth
with his very hot temper,Oedipus blamed on innocent people.
Oedipus didnt believe that he was wrong until Herdsman told
him about his background information. Do not tell me that I am
wrong. What I have done is best, so give me no more advice. My

sufferings are all my own. He think that he is perfect, never make an

erroneous decision. But now he know realize that he is wrong for
blame on other people, and didnt think about what he did
before.Oedipus really surprised when he get to know the truth that
he is son of King and Queen, also he realize that he killed his own
father and marry his mother.When he know the truth, he punish
himself by poke in the eyes. He leave Thebes and bringing two
daughter with him. He let his son ruled the country. Oedipus didnt
know that he was adopted children, and think that he just kill a
random man.
Oedipus was a nice King that everyone would love him, but he
really need to control himself. Oedipus cant control his hot temper
and accidently kill his father.Because of his hot temper, Oedipus act
quickly and not thinking about the result of what he did. Oedipus
kill someone just because they beat him.I pity you, children. I know
you all are sick, yet not one of you suffers as much as I. My heart
grieves and I have wept many tears due to this. I have thought of
only one hope. One remedy: I sent Creon, my brother-in-law, to ask
Apollo at his temple how I could save this city. He is gone far longer
than he needed for the journey. But when he comes, then I shall do
all the God commands.This part, show that Oedipus really care
about his people. He trying all his best to bring peace to this
country. He sacrifice everything he has to protect his country. A best

king would have a great control himself, in other to not making

wrong decision.
Not only Oedipus, everyone need to control themselves in
other to not make an erroneous decision. If from the beginning,
Oedipus keep his temperature calm, he not going to kill his father
and nothing bad going to happen.
