Abraham Lincoln delivered one of the greatest speeches of the 17th Century.

The
Gettysburg address was very emotional for the president and the people. His words flowed
through the audience with the power of the Mississippi river. This speech reminded Americans
of the blood that was spilled in this batter and divided nation. President Lincolns speech wasnt
about southern states attempt to declare their independence. President Lincoln was a proud
leader who had his own personal views on Slavery. In reality, the President knew he needed to
reunite North and South America to secure the future of this country. The Gettysburg Memorial
was an acknowledgment and a preservation of the brave countrymen who fought. He also
wanted to jog the American people memory about the founding fathers dream; that all men are
equal.
When I listened to Gettysburg speech, this is what I hear. I hear Lincoln saying I want to
see this country become united once again. The President felt as if he was somewhat responsible
for the fathers and brothers who spilled blood in this despicable civil dispute. He wanted his
fellow Americans to remember the civil war and how it was destroying this great nation. His
words memorialize the sacred ground of the Gettysburg battlefield. He offered a unique
opportunity for the families of the men who went into battle. He wanted the American people to
know their loved ones died for a remarkable and honorable cause.
