The Civil Rights Movement
After the abolishment of slavery, the Civil Rights Movement was the second bravest act,
in my opinion, to happen on American soil. The Civil Rights Movement was full of midtwentieth century martyrs. Who took the necessary steps to abolish the separate but equal; Jim
Crow laws. When I was a young child, my grandmother would tell us stories of how the Ku Klux
Klan killed people of color for no reason. One of those men was My grandfather, Sam
McFadden. Was forced at gunpoint to jump off a bridge in 1945 by a Branford, Florida Constable
(Police Officer). Official reports stated Sam McFadden was being disrespectful and pulled a gun
on the constable. The unofficial truth is a white woman told the constable that he whistled at her.
The constable was fined 1,000 dollars and given one year in jail for his terrorist act. Those brave
civil rights heroes risked everything they had to stop racially motivated murders. Some of those
civil rights protesters paid the ultimate price of life. To ensure that all Americans are treated
equally under the Constitution of the United States America.
