CO2 SEQUESTRATION FOR OIL RECOVERY

This experiment was useful to observe how oil can be extracted using
CO2. In this case, oil was extracted from gas producing by the reaction of
baking soda and vinegar

OBJECTIVE
The aim of this experiment was to stimulate the carbon dioxide
sequestration to recover oil.

WHAT YOU NEED?

Syringe without the needle


Spoon of soda
Three (3) glass container
Two (2) glass cap with 2 holes each
Two (2) glasses of water
Paint color/ food color
Rubber tubing
A glass of vinegar
Silicon for sealing

PROCEDURE
1. Prepare the water. Put some of the food color/ paint color in the water
and mix.
2. Pour the baking soda in one of the glass container and the colored
water in the other container.
3. Fill the syringe with vinegar.
4. Seal the glass containers with the holed glass cap.
5. Insert the syringe in the one of the holes of a glass container filled with
baking soda.
6. Insert the rubber tubing in the other hole and insert the other end of
the tubing in the container with colored water. On the other hole place

another tubing and insert the other end of the tubing in the container
that will serve as the collective tank.
7. Seal the tubing with silicon.
8. Inject the vinegar.
9. Observe the reaction.
