ASBESTOS

Chrysotile, the fibrous form of the mineral serpentine, is the best-known type and accounts for about 95
percent of all asbestos in commercial use. It is a hydrous magnesium silicate with the chemical composition of
Mg 3Si 2O 5(OH) 4.

Mg3Si2O5(OH)4 Chrysotile is one of the six minerals that are regulated as "asbestos". The five others
are tremolite, anthophyllite, amosite (grunerite), crocidolite (riebeckite), and actinolite.

The use of asbestos became increasingly widespread towards the end of the 19th century, when its diverse
applications included fire retardant coatings, concrete, bricks, pipes and fireplace cement, heat, fire, and acid
resistant gaskets, pipe insulation, ceiling insulation, fireproof drywall, flooring, roofing, lawn

LIMESTONE
Quick Answer.
Pure limestone is made up of two component minerals: calcium carbonate and calcium-magnesium carbonate.
The chemical formula for calcium carbonate is CaCO3. The chemical formula for calcium-magnesium
carbonate is CaMg(CO3)2.
Other uses include: It is the raw material for the manufacture of quicklime (calcium oxide), slaked lime (calcium
hydroxide), cement and mortar. Pulverizedlimestone is used as a soil conditioner to neutralize acidic soils. Is
crushed for use as aggregatethe solid base for many roads as well as in asphalt concrete.
METHANOL ALCOHOL
Methanol, also known as methyl alcohol, wood alcohol, wood naphtha, methyl hydrate, or wood spirits, is
a chemical with the formula CH3OH (often abbreviated MeOH). Methanol acquired the
name "wood alcohol" because it was once produced chiefly as a byproduct of the destructive distillation of
wood.
owever, unlike ethanol, methanol is highly toxic and unfit for consumption. At room temperature, it is a polar
liquid, and is used as an antifreeze, solvent, fuel, and as a denaturant for ethanol. It is also used for producing
biodiesel via transesterification reaction.
