DirectInvestment(FDI)intheelectronicssectorwitha25percentsubsidy,hesaid
yesterdayduring'IndiaConnect'businessforumorganisedattheongoing
CommunicAsia2016exhibitionbeingheldfromMay31toJune3inSingapore.
Marwahaunderlinedtheneedtoincreaseelectronicssectoroutputby$300billionover
thenextfouryears,giventhestronghitechproductsdemand,whichwillalsobecoming
fromthedevelopmentandretrofittingof98SmartCitiesacrossthecountry.Current
electronicsdemandinIndiais$100billion.
Todate,Indiahasreceived$16billionofnewinvestmentsfortheelectronicssector,
accordingtoMarwahawhoexpectstheindustrytobe$100billionstrongalongwith$28
billionofexistinginvestmentsandthenew$52billionrequiredinput.
Marketingcampaignsarebeingheldacrosstheworldtoattractmoreandmore
investmentsinthesector,whichalsoholdsthepotentialof$80billionworthofexports,
Marwahasaid.
ThetargetistomatchimportsandexportsandevenmakeIndiaanetexporterof
electronicsgoodsbyshippingoutmoretotheglobalmarkets,hesaidafteraddressingthe
forum,whichwassupportedbytheSingaporeBusinessFederation.
