MA1104 Tutorial 2 (Week 4)

1. Find a set of parametric equations of the line which passes through the
point (2, 3, 4) and is perpendicular to the plane given by 3x + 2y z = 6.
2. Determine whether the lines are intersecting or skew. If they intersect,
find the point of intersection.
(a) L1 : x = 4t + 2, y = 3, z = t + 1
L2 : x = 2s + 2, y = 2s + 3, z = s + 1
= y+2
= z+1

(1, 1, 1) and is perpendicular to the plane 2x 3y + z = 3.
4. Find the point on the plane x + y + z = 1 which is closest to the point
Q(2, 1, 2).
5. Find a set of parametric equations for the line of intersection of the planes:
2x 3y + 4z = 3, x + 4y 2z = 7.
6. Find an equation of the plane that is orthogonal to the plane 3x+2y4z =
