Its hard to believe that it is already the end of

the 3rd week of school. Time truly does fly
when youre having fun and we are! As this
school year gets rolling you may be hearing
terms at home like better together and
Super Switch and you might be
wondering What are these things? What
do they mean?
Better Together #pesbettertogether is our
school theme this year. We kicked this theme
off during the first week of school with a read
aloud of the book Swimmy by Leo Lionni.
The basic idea behind this theme is that we as
a school are better when we work together.
This theme of teamwork has also been carried
into classroom team building of classroom
communities. Our staff have truly embraced
this theme at each grade level by working
collaboratively to provide your children with
high quality differentiated instruction. As a
grade level team they are meeting students at
their individual academic levels and
supporting them to grow further.
Super Switch is a term that we are using for
two 30 minute periods that happen during
your childs school day. We have one 30
minute Math Super Switch and one 30
minute Reading Super Switch each day.
During these times, students are grouped
with other students from their grade level
and receive just right instruction at their
level in math or reading. Students and staff
are enjoying this time to work together in
small groups that have instruction that is
tailored specifically to students needs.
If youd like to learn more about our school
theme or our Super Switch schedule, please
check in with your childs teacher or stop by
my office.
Have a wonderful weekend I look forward
to seeing MANY of you at the Color Run
tonight!

Have a wonderful weekend!

#pesbettertogether

From the Gym:

We are off and running! Our Park
team has been doing a great job so
far with working together and
treating each other the way they
want to be treated while we play in
the gym. Theyre proving every day
that we are #pesbettertogether.
For the next couple of
times your 2-5 graders come to PE,
they will be doing fitness testing.
These tests are not intended to
compare children to each other,
they are meant to establish a
personal best record that the kids
can work to improve on
throughout the year. Please make
sure they come ready to do their
best wearing appropriate clothing
and gym shoes. We encourage the
children to bring gym shoes every
day so that way if they confuse the
rotation they will still be able to get
full participation credit.
If you are on facebook,
please like our PE facebook page. I
will be using this to communicate
the days your child has gym, to
make order forms available online,
share events like turkey trot and to
share pictures of the awesome
things your kids are doing in the
gym. I will no longer be using my
blog as this page does everything
my blog did but more efficiently.

Turkey trot information is
coming home this week with your
kids. The Turkey Trot is a fun run for
the whole community. The entry
deadline is Friday October 7th.
Hope to see everyone there!
As always thank you for the
honor of teaching you children!
Yours In Health,
