Only applications from candidates who have been offered a place at the University of Oxford
for entry in 2011/12 will be considered

You must read the information here and scholarship details before indicating which award(s) you
wish to be considered for.
1. This form can only be completed by:

2. Only one application form should be submitted, even if you use this form to apply for more
than one scholarship.
3. The value of these scholarships varies and details are set out in the following pages.
4. A breakdown of expenses and an explanation of University fees and college fees are
provided on the Fees and Funding website at www.ox.ac.uk/feesandfunding.
5. We use email to inform successful candidates of award outcomes, so please ensure that the
email address you supply is valid. If you change your email address, please let us know.
6. Only those candidates who have been accepted for University admission at the time of the
shortlisting will be considered for the scholarships.
7. A notice will appear on the online scholarship profile when decisions about each scheme
have been made. The web addresses for these profiles are on the following pages.
8. If you have not heard from us by the time this notice is posted, this means your application
to this scheme has been unsuccessful.
9. If you apply for a scholarship for which you are ineligible (e.g. through status/nationality),
your application will not be considered.

COMPLETING THE APPLICATION FORM
Please fill in the form as clearly and completely as possible either electronically or in black ink.
Where possible, please ensure that the form is printed as a single-sided document. The deadline
for receipt of the UND_1112 application form and all supporting materials is 12 noon (UK time) on
Friday 25 February 2011. Late applications or supporting materials will not be accepted.

If you send your application by email, you must use the subject header UND_1112 APP
[APPLICANTS FAMILY NAME]. If you send your application form and supporting
materials separately, please use the correct email subject headings to ensure there are no
delays in processing your application.
SUPPORTING MATERIALS
1. You must send one copy of the transcript of your academic student record with your
application. If this is not in English, it must be accompanied by a translation of the
document. A scanned copy is acceptable.
2. You must include one copy of the letter from your college offering you a place to study at
Oxford. A scanned copy is acceptable.
3. You must supply two references with your application. These should be from two people
with direct knowledge of your academic work (e.g. former or current teacher) who are not
related to you, and who you have asked to complete reference forms in support of your
application.
You should ask each of the referees named on your scholarship application form to
complete one of the reference forms. The reference forms must be received by post or
email by 12 noon (UK time) on Friday 25 February 2011.
If referees submit their reference by email, it must be sent from a work address. Hotmail,
yahoo, gmail and other such addresses cannot be accepted. The email address for referees
to use is student.funding@admin.ox.ac.uk with the subject heading UND_1112 REF
[APPLICANTS FAMILY NAME].
Please note that we cannot contact referees on your behalf.
4. Some of the scholarships require you to include a supporting statement with your
application. Please use Section F of the application form to enter this statement. If you do
not submit this statement by the deadline, your application will not be considered.

AHMET ERTEGUN MEMORIAL


SCHOLARSHIP
OVERVIEW
The Ahmet Ertegun Memorial Scholarship has been established by the Ahmet Ertegun Education Fund to
provide funding for students of Turkish descent who would otherwise not be able to afford to come to
Oxford. The Ahmet Ertegun Education Fund was established in memory of Ahmet Ertegun, co-founder of
Atlantic Records.

Scholars will be expected to write an annual report about their academic and social activities, and
achievements at the University.
Receipt of the award in subsequent years is subject to satisfactory academic progress.
Scholars will be expected to apply for UK government maintenance support if eligible.
Recipients of the Oxford Opportunity Bursary (OOB) will have this funded as part of the Ahmet Ertegun
Memorial Scholarship so will not receive a separate OOB. They will be able to apply for any other awards
open to OOB holders without this affecting their scholarship.

HILL FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP


OVERVIEW
These awards, funded by the Hill Foundation, are offered to enable Russians of very high academic
ability to undertake a period of study at Oxford University before returning to develop their careers in the
Russian Federation

ELIGIBILITY
Nationality:

Citizens of Russia whose first degree has been taken at a Russian university
and who have not subsequently taken any other degree. Israeli passport holders
who are the immediate children of a Russian national or Soviet national born in
the Russian Federation whose first degree has been taken at an Israeli
University and who have not taken any other degree, are also eligible.

Level of study:

Most Hill Scholars come to Oxford to do research or study for a higher degree
but the Trustees also encourage applications from graduates of Russian/Israeli
Universities who would like to benefit from the experience of the Oxford tutorial
system and take a second first degree with senior status.

NOON EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION


OXFORD SCHOLARSHIPS
OVERVIEW
The Noon Educational Foundation was established in 1992 by Lady Viqarunnissa Noon to support
scholars from Pakistan to study at leading universities in the United Kingdom. The scholarships at Oxford
are funded by the Foundation, the University and a number of generous partners.

how you intend to contribute to Pakistan on your return, and how your studies in Oxford will help with this.

OXFORD AUSTRALIA SCHOLARSHIP


FUND
OVERVIEW
The Oxford Australia Scholarship Fund was established in the 1990s with donations from Australians who
have studied at Oxford and, in particular, from Mr James Fairfax AO. Thanks to the generosity of the
Fund's many supporters it has continued to grow. This has included special fund-raising initiatives from
Old Members of Magdalen College, University College and Brasenose College to create awards linked to
specific colleges.

ELIGIBILITY
Nationality:

Applicants must be Australian citizens who are normally resident in Australia and
are applying for a Second BA or graduate degree.

PALGRAVE BROWN SCHOLARSHIP


OVERVIEW
The Palgrave Brown Scholarship has been established by the Palgrave Brown Bursary Fund to provide funding for
undergraduates with Home/EU fee status from Central and Eastern Europe and the countries of the former USSR
who are in need of financial assistance

ELIGIBILITY
Nationality:

Students must have either been previously resident and/or educated in Bulgaria, the
Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Slovakia or
Slovenia.
Applications will also be considered from Home/EU students who have either been
previously resident and/or educated in Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia
and Herzegovina, Croatia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Montenegro, the
Republic of Macedonia, Russia, Serbia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine or
Uzbekistan.

Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of financial need, and academic merit will also
be taken into consideration. Preference will be given to students who are not eligible for
UK government maintenance support and who are undertaking their first undergraduate
degree.

AWARD DETAILS
Duration:

3 or 4 years depending on course length

Value:

Annual grants of 9,200 towards living expenses and 800 towards travel. Students
undertaking a six-year medical degree would only receive funding for the first four years
of the course, and repeat years would only be funded with the prior agreement of the
Committee.

REACH OXFORD SCHOLARSHIP


OVERVIEW
A number of Oxford colleges offer Reach Oxford Scholarships (formerly Oxford Student Scholarships) to
students from developing countries who, for political or financial reasons, or because suitable educational
facilities do not exist, cannot study for a degree in their own countries.

This scheme is only suitable for candidates of the highest academic ability who
have outstanding examination results. However, financial need and social
commitment are also major criteria for selection.
