SPRING 2016

PROBLEM SET 3
Q1) For given beam with constant EI and L = 3 m, determine the support reactions by using slope deflection method and
following discretization: a) pursue a solution with two nodes at A and B; b) solve with three nodes at A, B and C; c) compare
the solutions.

Q2) Given structure is composed of frame members with same EI, and axially rigid members. Determine all support
reactions by using slope deflection method.

Q3) Given structure has constant EI = 15103 kN-m2 and axially rigid members. Besides 15 kN/m distributed load acting on
ABCD, there is a support settlement at F by an amount of 1 cm taking down the rest of the structure with it. Determine the
axial force in column CF by using slope deflection method.
