Raising Children in Different Culture

Raising children in a Chinese family and in Indonesian family
are strikingly different in many ways. For instance, the infant care
of each culture is different. In a Chinese family, male babies are
valued much more highly than female offspring. Whereas in an
Indonesian family, male and females babies are commonly valued
same, as it is considered as a gift from God. Another difference is
in applying discipline since childhood. Discipline practices in a
Chinese family are based on ancient Confucian ethics and the
belief that infants arrive from gods with an inherently nature that is
to be respected. This belief fosters interdependence within family,
requiring that the elders responsibly teach, train, educate, and
govern the young. If children disobey the rules, they will suffer the
consequences and both parents must have a deal on it. While in
an Indonesian family, the applying of discipline is not as firmly as
in Chinese family, there is no necessity for an elder to teach or
educate the young, unless there is a sincere intention and not
imposed. When children break the rules, then they do not suffer
the consequences because one of the parents sometimes put pity
on them. Also differ in applying of self reliance spirit. In a

Chinese family, children who are good at academic skills, they will
be supported as well as possible in continuing study. If children
are not good enough at academic skills, they will be equipped
with life-trade, so that they are able to run their own businesses
and employ many people. Whereas in Indonesian family, children
are highly supported to educate as high as possible so that they
are able to work in an office with a high position to earn much
more salary or probably they become leaders in political parties or
even to be a civil servant. To sum up, the future of children is
largely determined by the environment in which they were raised

Methods of Paragraph development by Cause And Effect

The Philippines today is now experiencing the so called

"POPULATION EXPLOSION". A phenomenon that greatly damage
so many aspects of our society most specially our economy.
Large percentage of the Philippine population belongs below the
poverty line. These reasons give rise to the most talked and
hottest issue today, an issue found on every newspaper, tabloid,
TV and radio stations and even in the internet. The
REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH BILL or simply RH bill. This bill passed
passed by the Congress and supported by our president, Noynoy
Aquino promotes access and knowledge on both natural and
modern family planning. It also aims to prevent unwanted
pregnancies that serve as a catalyst for the population explosion
as well as to the poverty. But this bill become the root of many
controversies and create a silent war between the Philippine

government and the Catholic Church. An issue cause by a

contradicting beliefs; for the Philippine government- RH bill is
the answer for the poverty and for the low quality of living but
for the Catholic church- RH bill is simply anti-life. The Catholic
Church believes that using contraception is somewhat similar to
abortion, an act which is against the teachings of the church.
And to show the disagreement of the church on the RH bill, they
declared the so- called 'Excommunication' for President Noynoy.
We cannot deny the fact that the Reproductive Health Bill
creates a huge impact not only to our government and the
Catholic Church, but also to every Filipino people. This issue
gives a big confusion on the mind of the people, an issue of what
to BELIEVE and whom to BELIEVE!!!!

Methods Of Paragraph Development By Analogy

A.FALLING IN LOVE AND SKYDIVING

Falling in love is like skydiving. Skydiving is a risk
because you are never 100% certain that you will survive the
fall. Likewise, falling in love is also a risk because you never
know if your love will survive. As you fall out of an airplane,
your adrenalin is pumping, your stomach is in knots and your
heart is pounding in your chest. In love you also feel this sense
of euphoria and excitement. But like in skydiving, love does not

come without its challenges. You must learn to lose control and
rely on your partner for help and personal growth. In skydiving
you are dependent on the parachute; without it you will dye. In
love you are dependent on your partner and must take your
partners needs into consideration. In skydiving, your first
experience determines your love or loathing for the sport. After
the first jump, a person is enticed by the sport or else fearful and
hesitant to try another jump. So we can argue that in love, a
persons first experience in love can also determine how they
approach future relationships. If a person has a warm first love
experience, they will be open and willing to engage in other
relationships. If, however, the person is badly hurt and burnt so
greatly by their first relationship, they will be very hesitant to
enter in a subsequent relationship.
Process Analysis Paragraphs
Process analysis paragraphs are pretty simple to write, once you completely
understand how something works. It is the most used type of paragraph for
technical writing assignments, so it is important to learn a few techniques to make
writing clear explanations easier. It is the kind of paragraph used to teach someone
how to do something. It may be a recipe, or instructions on how to fix a
transmission, or directions to your house. Your reader must be able to understand
your directions and to actually be able to perform the activity.
So, before you write:
1. Pick an activity, or a recipe you know very well. You will need to really
understand all of the details of how to do this activity before you can teach it
to anyone else.
2. Decide what you will need to do this activity:

What ingredients or parts?

What equipment?

3. Break the activity down in different steps your reader will need to take to
complete it.
4. Decide the order you will use to explain how this activity will be done
5. Decide how you will summarize this process to your reader. Is it an easy one?
a difficult one? a pleasant one? Will your reader have to be extra careful with
this process
