Dear Students,
In this course we will develop the vision of historical perspective, government, politics,
contemporary Pakistan, ideological background of Pakistan. We Study the process of
governance, national development, issues arising in the modern age and posing challenges to
Pakistan. In order to achieve the aforementioned I need your support without which it would not
be possible to realize the aims and objectives of the Course.
Course Description
In this course we will cover the era since Pre History till Present. We will divide the
whole course in to three parts. The first part deals with historical and Geographic background in
the context of emergence of Pakistan. The second part explores Pakistans History and Politics
since 1947 to present situation and circumstances of Pakistan. The last part we will focus on
Aspects of Pakistans Society and Economy. This course explores the struggle for Pakistan
Movement, Muslim separatism and nationalism then after independent there theory and practice.
We will also discuss in the post independent era the military and bureaucracy upheavals in the
political dilemma of Pakistan.
In this way we will critically examine the comparative historical perspective with the current
situation and try to analyze the future of Pakistan in this regard.
Aims and Objectives
On completion of this course, the students are expected to have acquired:
o A better understanding of Muslim Nationalism from historical point of view.
o Basic Knowledge relate to Pakistan movement and two nation theory.
o Exploration of ground realities of Muslim struggle for a separate homeland.
o Important events of history.
Teaching Methodology
Teaching methodology would be very simple. I will prefer to give lecture first and then
we will discuss it in detail. Your question, suggestions will be resumed. Hard copies of the
readings of concerning topic will be given in the class. Additional readings and books would be
suggested in course outline.
