Affirmative Action regarding minorities in society in the United States tends to concentrate on

issues, for example, training and occupation, particularly conceding extraordinary thought to
racial minorities, local Americans and ladies who have been verifiably barred gatherings in
America. Reports have demonstrated that minorities and ladies have confronted separation in
schools and organizations for a long time and this segregation delivered unjustifiable points of
interest for whites and guys in instruction and work. The catalyst toward governmental policy
regarding minorities in society is changing the impediments connected with over a wide span of
time segregation. Further catalyst is a yearning to guarantee open establishments, for example,
colleges, healing centers, and police strengths, are more illustrative of the populaces they serve.
This quota system is also present in USA. But it did not create a problem for the people who did
get the quota. In India, the situation is opposite to that of USA, the quota system creates problem
for the General Category who often lose their seat in educational institute due the reservation
even after qualifying the entrance exam. The reason for this problem is huge population of the
country and lack of educational institutes. The question is why even after sixty-eight years of
independence we need reservation and more importantly for how long we need it. There is also
no doubt affirmative action has made a difference to the divide.

Statistics on employment (government and private), education and health have shown

disproportionate improvement over the last 68 years.

The voice of the hitherto repressed sections has been strengthened in decision making.
Discrimination and Atrocities have gone down, though not eliminated.

The literacy rate of ST women was 34.8% in 2001 from where it jumped to almost 50%. The
literacy rate of SC women, about 42% in 2001, increased to 56.5% in 2011. Among ST males,
the literacy rate went from 59.2% to 68.5% by 2011 and among SC males it went up from 66.6%
to 75.2% in the same period.
The most change has been among ST ladies in Tripura, where the literacy rate hopped from
44.6% the distance to 71.6%, which is huge considering that STs make up just about 33% of the
state's populace. Bihar, with around 16% of its populace containing SCs, demonstrates the
greatest increment in proficiency among SCs - an increase of 20.2 rate focuses, from 28.5% in
2001 to 48.6% in 2011.

Nobody can determine for how many more years we will need reservations system and we
cannot end it at once it has to be done gradually. To bring this system to an end we not see the
whole as one but as different states. Literacy rate and condition of SC/ST should be monitored so
that the reservation in the states where condition of backward class has improved should be
gradually reduced. For example, literacy rate of ST women in Tripura increased from 44.6% to
71.6% so if this rate remains constant in the near future and the literacy rate of ST in Tripura will
increase and we can scrap down the reservation system in the state.
