Welcome to the surreal beauty of a vast

expanse of the clear blue sea and silver
sandy beaches, the verdant lofty mountains
and the imposing grand forts and
cathedrals.Goa offers a complete holiday
experience for every traveller. You can
either lounge on a sun bed with a cool drink
in hand or be a total party animal at the
happening club parties. Those looking for an
adrenaline rush will find plenty of action on
the beaches. History buffs and pious souls
will find their spot in Old Goa that is home
to many ornate churches, magnificent
cathedrals and ancient temples, each with
its own colourful history. A foodie-haven for
sea-food lovers, Goan cuisine is an
interesting blend of the Konkan and
Portuguese cooking styles. To sum it up,
between its Portuguese past, its fishing
village feel, its world famous beaches,
ancient temples, paddy fields and
plantations, Goa has something for
everyone. This very tiny patch of India's west
coast is very large-hearted land indeed. The
Portuguese rule from 1510 to 1961 left its
imprint on local language, religion, cuisine,
music, and of course, built heritage. The sea
beaches and hills were gifted by nature.
Tourism brought water sports, Western
migrants brought alternative ways of life,
and everyone seems to have brought beer
and fish.
Goa is the land of never-ceasing festivity.

This pristine abode of sand, sun and water is

always brimming with a frenzy of its own cheery and festive - all around the year. Pop
open a bottle of Feni and you are up for
another celebration. Some of the festivals
celebrated in Goa include Christmas,
Ganesh Chaturthi, St. Francis Day, the Goa
Carnival, Shigmotsav (Holi) and Food and
Cultural Festival of Goa.

Goa is the home to the mesmerising Dudh

Located on the Mandovi River, it is a tiered

during monsoons when the fall is in full
bloom. At a distance of 60 kilometres away
from Margao, this place is a must visit when
you come to Goa. Indulge in swimming,
trekking, photography and rock climbing or
just admire the beauty of this fall, this place
has something for everyone, be it an
adventure traveller or a leisure one.

Dona Paula Beach

Goa Travel Guide - http://www.ixigo.com/travel-guide/goa

Lovers Paradise, Panaji, Goa 403001,

India
A former village, Dona Paula Beach is one of
the most popular areas of the beautiful
state of Goa. Not only it is home to National
Institute of Oceanography but also
alongside it lie two of the very important
buildings, International Centre Goa and Goa
University.

this beach. The Zuari estuary at Dona Paula

is considered to be an excellent learning
spot for the unique Dinghy Sailing. It is
because the calm water here is the kindest
that Goa has to offer. Also, Dona Paula is
famous for being a windsurfing spot along
with being a stretch where you will see
dozen of water scooters in action. Not to
miss is the whitewashed statue of Mother
India and Young India facing towards east
and west respectively.

5
Initially known as Oddavell, this village was
renamed paying a tribute to Paula Amaral
Antonio de Souto Maior, a portuguese
woman who worked for the villagers'
betterment. It is believed that this woman
emerges from the glistening waves on a
moonlit night wearing only a pearl necklace.
After the Portuguese rule ended over Goa,
Dona Paula emerged as a posh and
fashionable residential area in the state. It
houses most of the luxurious hotels and
resorts in the state including the very
popular Cidade de Goa. A quiet stretch of
pristine beauty in monsoons turns into a
crowded tourist mad house during the peak
season.

The Bollywood cult movie, Ekk Duje ke Liye

was majorly shot on location here which
further raised the graph of popularity for

Baga Beach

Calangute Village, North Goa, Goa

403516, India
If there is one beach in Goa that remains
alive day and night, it has to be
Baga Beach! Named after the Baga Creek
that empties into the Arabian Sea on the
northern part of the beach, this is surely one
of the most popular beaches of the state.
There is no doubt about the fact that the
place is always zooming on the hotness

metre as there is so much that one can do

here. Roaming around on the Baga stretch
enjoying from the various souvenir shops to
the best party hubs of the state, the
beautiful beach hits you with a breeze of
vibrating energy which is so typical of the
place.

Whether it is the water sports spree or the

endless booze and food,
Baga Beach
is just full of life in every sense of the word.
Suddenly the hype about the place seems
understated when you experience it for
yourself. The beach is lined with continuous
rows of shacks and colourful fishing
boats. With time, the beach has become
more famous for its dolphin cruises which
take you around a kilometre or two away
from the main beach stretch for dolphin
sighting. However, the operators dealing
with that do not give you the surety of you
being able to see any dolphin during this
cruise.

Russian duo Dima and Vladimir. Not only is
the restaurant very popular among Russians
(with the Russian specialty Sirniki on their

party hub, known for its regular beach

year, particularly on Dima's annual birthday
bash and New Year's Eve. You'll find people
raving about Bora Bora's cottage cheese,
prepared from organic milk and simply put,
quite divine, so much so that they're
considering selling this at local grocery
stores. The restaurant is open 24 hours a
day, attracting many travellers who come

to the restaurant.
