Startup Europe Week is an initiative of Startup Europe / European Commission.
Many global initiatives have been created to celebrate entrepreneurship. Typically, such events follow the
Silicon Valley format (keynote motivational speeches, networking sessions etc).
But Europe is different and requires something more when it comes to starting a business. Regional diversity
and local policy making play a big role in shaping European startups. European regions are key players, from
helping entrepreneurs to incorporate a company, to providing grants or taxes breaks. That is why we think it
is critical to include the regions in this conversation. And that is exactly why we created the Startup Europe
Week.
From 1st to 5th February 2016, SEW partners all over Europe will present the projects sponsored by Startup
Europe and all other relevant initiatives being developed in regional ecosystems. Entrepreneurs will have

Accelerator Advisory Board Member - SXSW

The eighth annual SXSW Accelerator startup competition presented by 24/7 Intouch will take place in Startup
Village on Saturday, March 12 and Sunday, March 13. A live audience as well as a panel of expert judges
will discover advancements in various sectors of emerging technology.
Since its inception in 2009, weve seen 305 companies compete and a whopping 65% of those companies
went on to receive combined funding in excess of $2.6 billion (does not include undisclosed grants or angel/
seed funding) and 13% have since been acquired by the likes of Google, British Telecom, Huffington Post,
Apple, Live Nation, OpenTable, Constant Contact, and Harmon.
How does the competition unfold? On Saturday, March 12, 2016 a total of 48 Interactive technology
companies will captivate a live audience, a panel of three judges and co-emcees in Round One with their
ideas, innovations, products and/or services. These 48 companies are selected by the SXSW Screening
Committee from the hundreds of startups from across the United States and around the world who applied
for SXSW Accelerator by the November 8 deadline. We are no longer accepting applications.
On Sunday, March 13, 2016 the field of 48 will be narrowed down to the top 18 companies and these 18
startups will return to present to a new set of co-emcees and judges. At the end of the day on Sunday, these
judges will select the grand prize winners for each category. These winners will go on to be honored at the
SXSW Accelerator Awards, which occurs at the Hilton that evening.
