TheCentrewascreatedtotrainstaffofanNGOworkingwith
peopleinhabitingnearbychars,orriverineislands.Offices,a
library,meetingrooms,andprayerandtearoomsare
includedinpavilionlikebuildingssurroundedbycourtsand
pools.TheCentreisalsorentedoutformeetings,training,
andconferencesforincomegeneration.Thelocalhandmade
brickconstructionhasbeeninspiredbythemonastic
aestheticofthe3rdcenturyBCruinsofMahasthangahr,the
earliesturbanarchaeologicalsiteyetfoundinBangladesh.
Structuralelementsareofreinforcedconcreteandfinishes
alsoincludetimberandstone.Thenaturallyventilated
structureshavegreenroofs.TheCentreislocatedinan
agriculturalareasusceptibletofloodingandearthquakes,and
whoselowbearingsoilhasalowbearingcapacity.Asa
result,anembankmenthasbeenconstructedwithawater
runoffpumpingfacility.Constructedandfinishedprimarily
ofonemateriallocalhandmadebricksthespacesare
wovenoutofpavilions,courtyards,poolsandgreens,
