A wheel of radius R having charge Q, uniformly distributed on the

rim of the wheel is free to rotate about a light horizontal rod. The
rod is suspended by light inextensible strings and a magnetic field B
is applied as shown in the figure. The initial tensions in the strings

are T0. If the breaking tension of the strings are

A bubble having surface tension T and radius R is

formed on a ring of radius b (b << R). Air is blown
inside the tube with velocity v as shown. The air
molecule collides perpendicularly with the wall of the
bubble and stops. Calculate the radius at which the
bubble separates from the ring.

A big cubical box, completely filled with a non-viscous liquid

equilibrium at one of its corner as shown in figure.
Acceleration due to gravity g exists in k direction. Now
the box starts moving with a gi gj . What will be the net

Two narrow cylindrical pipes A and B have the same length. Pipe A is open at both ends and is filled
with a monoatomic gas of molar mass MA. Pipe B is open at one end and closed at the other end,
and is filled with a diatomic gas of molar mass MB. Both gases are at the same temperature. If the
frequency of the second harmonic of the fundamental mode in pipe A is equal to the frequency of the
third harmonic of the fundamental mode in pipe B, determine the value of M A M B .

Two metallic plates A and B, each of area 5 104 m , are placed parallel to each other at a
separation of 1 cm. Plate B carries a positive charge of 33.7 x 1012C. A monochromatic beam of
16

photons. Also assume that all the emitted photoelectrons are collected by plate B and the work
function of plate A remains constant at the value 2eV. Determine
(a) the number of photoelectrons emitted up to t = 10 s,
(b) the magnitude of the electric field between the plates A and B at t = 10 s, and
(c) the kinetic energy of the most energetic photoelectron emitted at t = 10 s when it reaches plate B.

space. The balls are in contact and there centres are forming
vertices of a square of side 2R in horizontal plane. One identical ball
travelling vertically with a speed v hits the four balls symmetrically.
The collision is perfectly elastic. The centre of the 4 stationary ball
are at (R, R, 0), (R, R, 0), (R, R, 0) and (R, R, 0) initially.

by three massless rigid rods to form a rigid, equilateral triangular body of
side . This body is placed on a horizontal frictionless table (x-y plane)
