Retribution
is
about
a
seemingly, innocent woman who
starts out putting a tray in the oven.
She then puts on gloves and an
apron and heads downstairs to her
basement to see a half-dead,
beaten-up corpse, choking on
blood. The woman then starts
torturing the man continuously. A
bible salesman then interrupts the
torture scene. The woman then
cleans up and heads upstairs to
greet the man and give him money.
Scene cuts to black.

This target audience was chosen as
we thought that most people in the
age range and economic group

after a long day of school or work
they can unwind and watch an
adrenaline-fuelling
Horror/Thriller
film with themselves or with Friends
and Family.

Representations:

Testing the Product:

This genre was chosen because we

thought we could get creative with
this genre to produce a successful
opening sequence to a film. We also
thought we could work with a lot in
the Horror/Thriller genre, as the
genre falls into many other subgenres that we can implement and
adapt into our opening sequence,
like the sub-genre we are currently
using, Slasher.
The main representation of this film
is the counter-typical dominance of
a female character as gender
stereotypes puts men dominantly
above
women.
Our
opening
sequence will show how strong that
stereotype is portrayed as we will
have a Female character as the
dominant "Hunter" and the Male
character as a mere "Prey" of the
hunter. This representation would
influence the Female audience and
make them feel as if they have
power. The idea of a having a
Female dominant character would
also attract a wider range of Female
viewers.
To put our product to the test we
will film our opening sequence
weeks before our final deadline and
present our draft to our assessor,
Mr. Assegai, so we could be given
feedback and ways to improve our
final piece. We will also hand out
questionnaires to viewers of our
draft and they could give feedback
and other ways of improvement. We
would use both feedback sheets
and improve our draft in time for
our deadline.
