It's flat out ugly, as cities go. Most southwest cities are pretty flat -- they build out instead of up and
you just get endless miles of dirty asphalt and strip malls. It's not like they can just leave areas
undeveloped and have a park -- it'd be dust and cactus and rattlesnakes and centipedes.
(Used to live in Tucson. They at least have some mountains around.)

It was always irritating to me to see lush green golf courses in the Arizona desert. I'm not sure how
much more arrogant you can get than making a nice lawn in a place where everything else is sand,
gravel and only the spikiest plants.

LOL. I lived in Phoenix for 3-4 years. I got used to the heat and had to buy a big ass jacket when winter
came around. Even though I grew up in a place that got much much colder during winter my body just
got used to the heat and I could not handle the cold.
