April 30 2016. My Bat Mitzvah. 5

Today was nally the day of my Bat Mitzvah. I had been preparing for nine months, and
my hard work was nally going to pay o . Between tutoring sessions and a lot of practice at
home, I was ready for my big day. I woke up, got my hair and makeup done, got changed, and
headed for my temple. I was really nervous about the service, but once it was over I felt
con dent and knew that I had done an amazing job on the bema. The party was really fun. I
spend the entire night celebrating my accomplishment of becoming a Bat Mitzvah, and I
realized that everything I had worked for was nally being payed o . I had a great time and I
am so happy that I was able to have the experience of a Bat MItzvah.
June 17, 2013. Going to camp for my rst time. 5
I woke up that morning at around 6:30am, got up, got dressed in a pink sugar lip tank
top, grey and pink justice shorts, and two very very high pigtails. I drove in my car to the
location where the busses were, and I could not wait to go to overnight camp for the rst time.
Once I got on the bus and as we started to drive away, I started crying because I was nervous I
was going to miss my family. I was determined that the second I got to camp I would call my
parents and go home, although this did not happen. Little did I know that once we got there,
camp was even better than home! I lived with my friends, had super cool counselors, and had
tons of fun activities. When the summer came to the end, I was so sad to leave. Camp is an
amazing experience that I continue to enjoy each year.

February 21, 2015, My rst dance solo, 4

This was a very exciting day in my life, I competed my rst solo for my dance team. My
teacher was Ms. Julie and I was dancing to the song Ordinary Day by Vanessa Carlton. I was
wearing a pink costume and was competing in the junior lyrical category, along with a lot of my
other teammates. I was stretching back stage and got really nervous, I had never done a solo
on stage before. When they announced my name, I walked on stage and got set in my opening
position. The music started and I did my dance. I walked o stage feeling con dent and proud
of myself. This experience has given me something to look forward to every spring when I
know I can compete another solo.
Late July and Early August 2013, Oregon trip. 4
After arriving home from my rst summer at overnight camp, my family spent a little time
at home and then went on a trip. First, we ew to Oregon for my cousin Joshs wedding. I was
able to see a lot of my out of town family that I rarely see and could celebrate my cousin
getting married. The wedding was outdoors, was full of lots of grass and was very spacious. Me
being my 10 year old self, I ran around and danced for the entire night! We then drove to
California where our second destination was. We drove through the Redwood Forests, and we
were able to see many fascinating things like driving through a tree and seeing a house that
was made from a tree. In California, we went to San Francisco. We went to Legoland, Seaworld,
Chinatown, and many more fun places. We then ew home from California and had an amazing
trip. This is something that I will remember forever.
August, 2009, In art class peeing my pants, -1
The rst day of art class in rst grade was a disaster for me. Five minutes into the class I
really had to go to the bathroom. My class was all standing around a table talking and learning
about art class. I tried to ask to go but the teacher told me to be quiet because she was talking

and explaining a project. I tried to explain that I had to go to the bathroom, but she wouldn't
listen until she was done talking. A few minutes later I still had to go and could not hold it any
longer. I peed in my pants!! Pee was streaming down my legs and I could not control it. All of
the people standing next to me ran over to the other side of the table. The assistant teacher
walked me to the nurse's o ce and I then had to call my mom to tell her that I had peed my
pants and needed to have her bring me new clothes. She brought them for me, and I changed
and then went back to class. This was an embarrassing and uncomfortable time in my life.
Summer 2011, Getting my adenoids out, -2
The night before I got my adenoids out, I ate and drank as much as I could. I knew the
next day I could not eat or drink until my adenoids were out, which was not until the afternoon.
The morning of the surgery, I was really nervous, but I wasn't the only nervous one. My sister
was also getting her adenoids removed, and she was going before me. Once I got into the
surgery, it was very unclear. I blew into a balloon and what felt like a minute later I woke up in
the waiting area. I was so confused when I woke up, and all I saw was my mom sitting on my
bed. I asked her where my dad and sister were, and I found out that they were upstairs in the
room. I started crying because I wanted my dad and I was confused what was happening. After
a few minutes, I went upstairs to my room and ate a red Popsicle. After a few hours, I went
home from my rst and only surgery.
November, 2005, Cracking my chin open, -2
I was a two and a half year old little girl when I cracked my chin open. I had just recently
moved into my new house and it was a normal day for me. I got dressed that morning and went
downstairs. My chocolate milk had fallen on the oor and I reached to pick it up. This might not
seem dangerous, but my pants were really long on me. When reaching to get it, I tripped over
my pants and cracked my chin open. I was so scared because I did not really understand what

was happening, and I ended up needing stitches. Because of this, I had to stay indoors
because the stitches could not be in the sun or in a pool. At the time, I was an only child so I sat
inside for a week with my parents until I was able to get the stitches removed. This was a very
uncomfortable experience for me and was a negative in my life.
May 25, 2016, My great grandma died, -4
I had just stepped into the car after my Wednesday dance classes. I opened my phone
and went onto the app, Instagram. The rst post that came up was from my cousin. The post
was photos of my great grandma so I read the comment. At rst I thought it was her
anniversary or something like that, but the post was resting my 100 year old great grandma in
peace and how she lived an amazing life. This was my rst time hearing that this happened,
and I didnt know what to do. I just sat in my car crying, my mom confused by what was
happening. I showed her my phone, and she gave me a big hug. She told me that my great
grandma had passed away that morning, and that my dad was going to tell me and my sisters
once I got home. I got home and then my dad told my sisters. We called my papa, whos mom it
was. He said he was going to y to the funeral but we could not go. This was because the
funeral was in Florida but there would be something in Chicago in order to remember her. This
made a big impact on me, because my great grandma is someone very important to me.
