to the students of Bukidnon State University?

Question 3.How relevant is the socio-economic status of a student to its academic performance?

Theory: Numerous studies have shown that the socioeconomic (SES) achievement gap is the
main cause of inequality of students in schools and other educational systems (Bourdieu 1989;
Carnoy 2007; Shavit and Blossfeld 1993, as cited in Doren, 2013).

Relevance: It is important to magnify this issue to determine whether socioeconomic status (ses)
plays a major impact on the students academic performance, and if it does, to determine how
influential socioeconomic status is to the ability of the student to perform academically.
