Answer this question: What is the importance of
this exercise? How is it related to you as
agriculture major students?
At the end of this exercise, students are
expected to:
1. familiarize
the
common
invertebrate,
vertebrate and mollusk pests of our major
crops;
2. recognize
their
corresponding
or
characteristic damage/s and relate them to
their mouth type or their feeding behavior;
and
3. determine their injurious stage or stages to
their preferred crops.
Live and well preserved specimens of their
assigned pests
1. Obtain ten (10) samples of your assigned
insect pest.
2. Preserve your specimens properly and mount
them correctly with appropriate labels
(common name, scientific name, order, host
plant, date collected and place collected).
3. Look for video/s on their feeding behavior.
Take note how they use their mouthparts to
consume their food and how specific
mouthparts create damage to the plant
parts. Record your results.
Provide the following information:
o List of pests on each major crop and their
corresponding photodocumentation with
correct labels
Answer the objectives based from the results
