SECTION 1: Findings
Congress makes the following findings:
1) Promote quality family time, healthy and active lifestyles.
2) Increased time spent outdoors will lead to healthier lifestyles.
3) Spending time under the sun simulates the bodily production of
vitamin D, which results in an improvement of overall bodily health.
SECTION 2: Purpose
The purpose of this bill is to encourage families to spend time together and enjoy
community and national parks as a national holiday on the first Monday in
September.
SECTION 3: General Provisions
This act will repurpose Labor Day by encouraging the public to spend time with their
family at outdoor parks and the public land of the United States. As the day in
question is already a national holiday, this ensures time that everyone is free to
spend time together as a family. The incorporation of this day on an already
existing holiday will not further interfere with paying businesses. The people of
the United States can take a break from their busy lives to broaden their
appreciation of nature and the outdoors. This would also strengthen communities
and promote healthy lifestyles.
