LearningStatement
TheproblemthatIdecidedtoattemptinMeasurementwastheproblemoflocatingpointsonaline.
Itmaysoundlikeasimpleproblembut,therewasmuchmorethanthereappearedtobe.Theproblem
invokesyoutothinkoutsideofthestandardstraightlineandimaginehowthingswouldchangeona
curvednumberline.Thingslikearithmeticexpressionsandisometriesthatgosowellwiththe
standardstraightline.Sincethiswasaveryvisualproblem,Ifirstattemptedtosolveitbydrawing
diagramsthatwouldhelpmevisualizeexactlywhatwashappening.Ihadneverreallyheardof
arithmeticversionsofaconceptlikereflectionbeforeso,Ifoundthatintriguingaswellaschallenging.
Withthatbeingsaid,therewassomepriorknowledgethatIdidnothavetohelpmewiththisproblem
whichissomethingthatIgrappledwith,tryingtowrapthesenewconceptsaroundmyheadforthe
firsttime.Ahabitofamathematicianthatreallyhelpedwiththroughthisproblemwasstaying
organizedanddrawinggraphs.
