Dear Dr. Howard Goldstine:
I remember when I was young in a doctor's office and a menacing pointy stick was
approaching my arm, I wasnt scared. I remember the reassurance of my mother in
the room, but what I really noticed was the presence and stature of the doctor about
to thrust a needle into my pygmy arm. He was calm, collected, he even made me
laugh before he injected the serum. Even though the vaccines hurt quite a bit, I
never resented nor feared him, as well as going to the pediatrics office. Over
several years with increasing visits I grew to admire those in pediatrics more and
more. I believed it was noble of them to put a smile on a child's face while
maintaining their well being and at the same time relieving parents.
I shall be brief and frank, once I obtain my credentials to start a career in pediatrics,
I wish to apply to join the Community Pediatric Medical Group.
Though my experience is limited currently, it shouldnt be an issue in due time, nor
when I have the expertise and education to follow through with the career field.
Despite limited experience, I have begun to shape my mindset to accommodate and
ease a transition into the medical field. Examples being conditioning myself to be
composed and natural in the presence of blood, germs, or emergency situations
like, when dissecting a baby pig I did not turn away like all of my peers. Instead, I
asked for the scalpel and forceps and dove in saying to myself, This is nothing in
comparison to the future.
Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
