Engineering capabilities.
I collected a spent solvent(waste) sample of ethyl acetate from one of our clients(Auctus
pharma India pvt ltd) and they asked me to separate only ethyl acetate with purity <=
99.5% and
MC>=0.5% by separating rest of 20 impurities it contained.
I started developing process by water washing the collected sample. After 3 stages of water
washing ,I could able to remove almost 16 impurities which are water soluble .Then I chose to
treat the collection with CaCl2 to remove rest of impurities and moisture content. I got succeeded in
doing so but with huge quantity of effluent generation.
I started negotiations with client companys General Manager and I could able to convince them
that I could make it and I closed the deal on job work basis.
I approached another client(Glochem Industries India pvt ltd) with an intention of bidding for
salable solvents but that companys General Manager asked me to check whether I can develop
a process for separating Cyclohexane from mixture of Acetone+Cyclohexane.
c) Summary
C.E1.15.

C.E2.1 This second career episode took place between 05 August 2010 and 26 June 2011. I was working
as an Operations Engineer in solvent recovery plant i.e. recovering desired solvents from waste(spent)
solvents from other industries, manufacturing fresh solvents such as DMSO(Dimethyl Sulfoxide).During this
period, In a general body meeting, I advised my Head-Projects to restart the abandoned conventional
(coagulation & filtration) effluent treatment plant. My senior management asked me to make a plan how
I can bring it back into operation as it was abandoned for more than 10 years and all ground level,
above ground level tanks are half filled with sludge.
a) Background
C.E2.2
I reviewed existing plant design and prepared a plan after an in-depth discussion with my project
manager showing how I can clean the accumulated sludge and its safe disposal as per PCB (Pollution
control board) norms and policies & simple design modifications.
C.E2.3 I gave a power point presentation how the accumulated sludge can be removed from tanks
in most economical and cost effective way using simple JCB Loader and how it could be brought into
better operation by addition of reverse osmosis system.. After presentation, my project manager approved
my proposal of revamping the abandoned ETP plant.
C.E2.4 I prepared a basic design of plant and directed my team to remove all the sludge from tanks
and load them into waste carrying trucks for safe disposal in nearby landfills.
C.E2.5 I guided and supervised whole operation of removing sludge from ground level tanks viz.
equalization tank, neutralization tank , treated effluent collection tanks and aeration tank, sludge drying beds.
C.E2.6
I checked all the available equipment with the plant whether they can be reused or
had to be installed..
new equipment
C.E2.7 I permitted maintenance team to uninstall all the available equipment like aerator, sludge recycling
pumps, flow meters , valves, dosing pumps, pipes etc.
b)
Monitor, supervise and guide project team to accomplish the tasks assigned to
them as per schedule.
Guide them in what chemicals to be used for dosing and what should be the
percentage of dosing by safe procedures.
C.E2.15.
Engineering Capabilities
I managed the plant operations, detailed engineering, environmental compliance, and customer
service of company.
I managed the basic design, selection of suitable process, section of equipment and installation
and startup, shutdown of ETP & solvent recovery plants to obtain desired end results.
I analyzed the problem brought to me regarding operation and advise them how to
trouble shoot online .
.
c)
Summary
C.E2.16.
The project and operations I carried out met all the safety requirements and complied
with environmental norms as per PCB. During this period, I managed to calculate,
estimate and select equipment and structures so that they completely fulfilled all the
engineering tasks. The replacement of the defected and worn out, damaged
equipment allowed removing the defects, found during the process of maintenance.
