Plans for differentiation: The due dates will be set but the requirements
can be varied. I can adjust page length and font size for certain students.
Also the essay is in the students own words and vocabulary. There is no
required word usage except for the ones on the assignment questions list.

Plans for accommodation/modification: Children who are in reading and

writing groups will have that time as well to work on their projects. I will also
allow class time where I can work one on one with students.

Assessment: Knowledge will be assessed based on the grammar of the

essay, clearness of ideas on the poster and brief presentation to show their
work.
Assignment: The assignment is for the students to write a short essay (2-3
pages TNR 12) to the following prompt question. You are a world class
explorer and you have stumbled upon an uncharted nation that you claim as
your own. Tell us how you came to find this land (plane, boat etc.) and
explain everything you have decided for your country. What is its name?
What type of government will you have? Is it a big nation or a small one?
Describe your countrys imports, exports, agriculture and anything else you
can tell us about your new-found land. After the essays are finished each
student will design a poster to showcase their country and we will attach
each students essay to the poster so that we can display them in the
hallway for literacy night.
