Objective: The students will be introduced to the periodic table of elements by reading a
short introduction and being able to identify a certain amount of elements by completing a
worksheet.

Relevancy: Elements are the simplest form of matter. Therefore, the periodic table of

elements is very important because its based on matter. It groups the elements together based
on similarities, so you are able to identify characteristics by just looking at the table. Being able
to identify elements is crucial to the understanding the basis of life.

Look through the periodic table of elements and try to fill in the blank in the worksheet
with the corresponding chemical symbol.
