These five brief scales give you a good picture of early cognitive and motor development. Appropriate
for children from birth to 5 years and 8 months, the Mullen Scales measure the following:
Gross Motor
Visual Reception
Fine Motor

Expressive Language
Receptive Language

Colorful manipulatives and updated artwork make the scales attractive to children. A 1-year-old can be
assessed in just 15 minutes, a 3-year-old in about 30 minutes, and a 5-year-old in 40 to 60 minutes.
For each scale, you get a T-score, percentile, and age equivalent score. An Early Learning Composite
score is also generated. The child's strengths and weaknesses are clearly shown on the Mullen Profile
Form.
Or you can choose computer scoring, which not only converts raw scores, but also provides an
optional intervention report. This report lists developmentally appropriate tasks that parents can help
their children learn at home.
The Mullen Scales give you a foundation for effective intervention and a baseline from which to
determine appropriate teaching strategies.
