Situation in Bangladesh
1) Child marriage is high and ranked 13
2) 66% girls get married before they reach 18
years
3) Only 5% of male get married by 18 years
4) Age range as early as 13-14 years.
5) With its added consequences of harmful,
Physical, Mental & Sexual Experiences.

Causes
1) Poverty contributes as a major
factor.
2) Gender Inequality
3) Social Inequality
4) Social Injustice
5) Lack of Security of female girl.
6) Illiteracy & Ignorance.

Causes
7) Sexual harassment & eve teasing.
8) Contribute to early marriage.
9) Women trafficking.

Consequencies
1) Violence abuse & forced sexual
relation.
2) Poor sexual & reproductive health.
3) High maternal & neonatal mortality.
4) Maternal morbidity.
5) High incidence of low birth weight.

How to prevent early marriage

1) Promote girls access to quality
primary & secondary education.
2)Develop stronger coordination
among stake holders.
3) Strengthen law.
