Twardowski

Twardowski was a nobleman from Cracow, who wanted to be a wizard and do

magic.
One day he summoned the Devil and made a contract with him: the Devil
would teach Twardowski magic and in return Twardowski would give the Devil
his soul. Twardowski promised that in seven years he would go to Rome
and there the Devil would take him.
The Devil kept his promise and taught
Twardowski magic. Twardowski became a
famous wizard. He used magic for fun, but
also to cure people from different illnesses.
He conjured an enormous rooster and flew
on it. But he didnt keep his promise and
didnt want to go to Rome.
The Devil decided to trick Twardowski. He
changed into a child, came to the wizard and
said that his mother was ill and she needed
help. Twardowski went with the child, who led him to an inn called Rome.
There the child changed back to the Devil. He grabbed Twardowski and flew
with him in the air, but Twardowski started to pray to the God. The Devil
dropped him and the wizard landed on the moon, where he lives until today.
