fever of unknown origin (FUO) is a fever of at least 101 degrees Fahrenheit
(38.3 degrees Celsius) that either lasts for more than three weeks or occurs
frequently without explanation. Even though a doctor cannot initially determine
the cause of the fever, a diagnosis of FUO is a step toward finding a cure.

What is the meaning of REMITTENT fever?


Definition: a fever pattern in which temperature varies during each 24-hour
period but never reaches normal. Most fevers are remittent and the pattern is
not characteristic of any disease, although in the 19th century it was considered
a diagnostic term
Systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS) is an inflammatory state
affecting the whole body, frequently a response of the immune system to
infection
